Chris Danielson

Chris has been routesetting since 1994 where he began at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While living and traveling from coast to coast in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Chris gained experience setting commercially and honed his competition setting skills through years of practice volunteering at high level competitions like the American Bouldering Series, Teva Games, and the PCA.

In 2005, Chris began working as an independent climbing wall consultant, and has assisted in the start-up of many state-of-the-art commercial climbing gym projects with his business, Thread Climbing Wall Consultation. Since 2006 he has also worked as the leading sales representative to the climbing wall market for brands such as e-Grips, Flashed, PMI Ropes, So iLL, Teknik, Trango.

Chris serves as the Chairman of the USAC Routesetting Committee. He has played an integral role in the development of the USAC Routesetting Clinic and Certification Program and instructs sanctioned and non-sanctioned routesetting clinics across North America each year. Chris has been a routesetter at major bouldering and sport climbing competitions in recent years and has worked with USA Climbing to increase the standard of high level production events such as ABS Nationals and the IFSC World Cup.
